Nathan Cleverly has shown an impressive run of form, currently retaining an undefeated record and holding the WBO Light Heavyweight title, making a name for himself over recent months and now it seems that he is about to put his title on the line against American Tommy Karpency next month.
Cleverly today confirmed that the fight has been scheduled for Saturday 25th February and will be held at Cardiff Motorpoint Arena.
Karpency will be fully aware of the challenge that lays ahead of him as he competes for the title against in form champion and with Cleverly currently holding a 23-0 record, he will be looking to cause an upset.
Cleverly was last in action in October 2011 when he defeated Tony Bellew and Karpency will enter into the bout having won 21 of his last 24 fights as the underdog but that is not something that will effect the American’s desire to topple the champion.
Although the news of the fight has only been confirmed this week, Cleverly has admitted that he has been in training since Christmas, meaning that he is in great shape for the fight with seven weeks still to go before the duo enter the ring.
Speaking to the media, Cleverly said “This is my first fight in Cardiff for a long time and i’m looking forward to putting on a good shoe for my fans against Karpency.”
Clearly looking forward to the bout, Cleverly revealed “I’ve trained over Christmas and i’m in great shape already and we’re still over seven weeks away from the fight, so i’ll be spot on come fight night.”
