The stage is already set and the date fast approaching but Marco Antonio Rubio has warned opponent Julio Cesar Chavez Jr that he will not be looking to allow the bout to be decided by the judges, saying that he does not want to “risk” their ruling.
WBC middleweight Chavez Jr will be entering into the bout as the favourite for many bookmakers but Rubio has revealed that he has been working hard in his pre-fight preparations and he is high in self belief that he has the punch to be able to knock the champion out.
Although Rubio feels that he can provide an upset for many, he did admit that his opponent has been producing some impressive performances in his recent fights and he will not be about to underestimate this rival.
Knowing the challenge ahead of him, Rubio told the media “I don’t want to risk with the judges, i’ll go for the knock out.”
The message was firm from the Rubio camp and with their fighter looking in great condition as he gears up for his final stage of his pre-fight preparations, Rubio’s trainers will be looking to pull in a number of fighers to spar with him as they look to diversify his approach so that Rubio can combat any game plan that Chavez Jr could enter this content with.
The fight will take place at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas on 4th February and with a failed attempt at capturing the crown before, Rubio will be hungry to overcome the current champion, a fate that he failed to deliver back in 2009 when he fought Kelly Pavlik.
Since that loss Rubio has added nine knockout victories to his tally and he looks in great form to be able to offer Chavez Jr a battle when the two stand toe to toe next month.
